And once again, I would like to say they were all great stories, but I could only have three. So here are the winning stories and I even placed in why they won. Congrats!

Jason Vorheez: “On the first night my current girlfriend and I spent alone at my place, we bought a nice bottle of wine to start the night. It had been years since I used one of those corkscrews with the push down legs on it, and i couldn’t remember how to work it. Long story short, I broke the corkscrew in the bottle of wine, cut my hand on the broken corkscrew, and broke the bottle of wine when i dropped it on the floor. Needless to say, I didn’t look to smooth, lol. :-(”

…..This one stood out because I could see a romantic dinner go awry, that would be my luck. But nonetheless it was about a good bottle of wine. And it was one of those you just said “Awww”.

BluePlate: ”Ever heard of Opus One? It’s a super-fancy-schmancy winery in Napa Valley, where a taste of the one wine they produce will run you $25 or so. Well, my friends and I lived near Napa and actually know a bit about wine, and we’d heard great things about Opus One, so we decided to visit.

The winery is gorgeous–it’s all palatial with pillars and tall doorways, and the grass grows right up the sides of the building, forming a lovely smooth slope that meets the roof at the top.

Now, my friends and I are friendly, casual sort of people, perhaps not the sort who look like they’d know anything about wine, but certainly not offensive or cretinous or anything

Well, from the way the Opus One greeter looked at us, you’d think we crawled out from under a rock or something. We got a thin smile and were told that perhaps the popular Mondavi, across the street, would suit us better. (I certainly don’t mean to slam Mondavi, but the greeter sure did!)

We were so shocked that we just turned around and left! As revenge, I gave my friend my BlackBerry and had her film me as I ran up the sloping lawn right to the top of Opus One and came rolling all the way back down. I stood up, dizzy and covered in grass and mud, right as a train of limos pulled in to the parking lot, full of much more suitable guests, I’m sure.

Good times.”

This one won just for the outlined word: BlackBerry. I had to give that extra credit for relating an app to the BlackBerry. After all we are BlackBerry Sync.

Eric: “As a 23-yr old, I haven’t had the time to amass many wine stories, but I’ll go with my first foray into a liquor store. It was a few years back, and my new girlfriend and I were at my out-of-town formal in Chattanooga. Of course we hadn’t planned ahead and had hit the road with cooler completely dry. Before getting ready for the dance itself, we conspicuously walked into the liquor store down the street from our hotel looking for a cheap deal. I had no idea what I was doing because I really didn’t drink — at all — at that point, but my girlfriend picked out the cheapest bottle she could find for us to share. After a few tense moments with the clerk, we walked out and had a grand time at the dance. My birthday came up at midnight, so we popped the cork on the bottle and, lo and behold, she’d picked a white zin for us to share. To this day, that’s one of only 2 bottles of white zin I’ve had, but I’m not ashamed to say that was the night it all started.”

I chose this one because it was somewhat romantic, and it was a cute evening. Wine isn’t always about the price. My best memories growing up have Boones Farm wines and family and friends.

I posted the Kindle review a few days ago, and it’s updated already! The new version is v1.0.0.68140194. I’m not kidding, that’s really the version number. I’m not sure what’s different I love my Kindle app, plus it’s free. And in Amazon, there’s several free as well as paid books, and even those on huge savings and sales. Don’t take my word for it, go check it out.

I couldn’t help but be thrilled over Kindle for BlackBerry. It was more of the idea it’s a standalone or integrated app, I didn’t have to invest in a Kindle. But also I could see many uses aside of just reading on it. Let me introduce you to Kindle for BlackBerry.

I was really interested in the idea of having Kindle for my BlackBerry without having the reader. Amazon has had the Kindle reader for a while now, and the iPhone has had the app available. Having it available for your BlackBerry is even better.

Shop for books in the Kindle Store:

• Search and browse more than 400,000 books, including 101 of 112 New York Times® Best Sellers.
• Find New York Times Best Sellers and new releases for $9.99, unless marked otherwise
• Get free book samples – read the first chapter for free before you decide to buy
• Books you purchase can also be read on a Kindle, computer, or other Kindle-compatible mobile device
• Kindle newspapers, magazines, and blogs are not currently available for Kindle for BlackBerry
• Kindle for BlackBerry is available to U.S. customers only

And future improvements will include:

• Scrolling: In addition to page-by-page navigation, you will be able to scroll text line-by-line.

The Kindle for BlackBerry application is available and free for U.S. customers. To use the Kindle, all you need is a BlackBerry and an Amazon account so that you can add the Kindle account to it. I downloaded and installed this app on my BlackBerry Tour 9630 with 5.0. The app is a quick download, and once you sign into your Amazon account, if you have one, it keeps track of your books that you download. You can also go into your Amazon account and make sure your Kindle account has your information so you can purchase books. The books are also stored on Amazon so you don’t have to worry about space being taken on your BlackBerry.

This is the icon, with the classic Amazon symbol. Clicking on it opens your Kindle app.

I downloaded Bobby Flay’s cookbook to see how the Kindle works. I thought it would be nice to have a book I can read, enjoy, and take with me to the store and not have to take a list, and also to fix at home without having to grab a book. Now I’m going to show you the options available in the Kindle.

With bookmarks in hand, and the information available, we’re ready to start reading. So let’s go to the book.

The book starts just as if you’re reading. The cover and all pages are included.

This is how the fonts look. As you can see, very clear to read.

These are the options available while reading. It’s nice to be able to change the font and the screen, and have the keyboard shortcuts available.

Another great thing about the Kindle app and your book. This is the Table of Contents. What’s so great about it? If you click on one of those links, it takes you straight to the chapter so you don’t have to sort through it all unless you want to.

When you exit the book, it will remember the last page you were on. It saves it for you to start the next time you open it.

I bookmarked, read through the chapters, I found the shortcuts to work well. Now I thought I’d show you how easy it is how to go through books and order one, as well as how the prices go, and believe it or not, many books are free, and some go on sale! You have access to great books at great prices.

I have the chance to try a sample, or just to buy, but I want to read a description and see reviews.

Now if your information is in Amazon for your Kindle account, you can take advantage of the One Click easily. Books take a few to download. So let’s purchase one so you can see how fast it is.

This is using the One Click purchase.

The process took about a minute, although Bobby Flay’s took about a minute and a half to two minutes with all the pages it had.

And now we can go back to see the books that I have.

So there you have it, easy to shop. It’s possible that you don’t have to even purchase a book with all the free selections. Classics are in there and many are free. I love how easy it is to read, that it remembers the last page you were on so that you can read the book as you go, not having to worry about restarting.

Here’s something else I was able to deal with too. I had to change phones. I transferred the app using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, however when I went to read Bobby Flay, I couldn’t open the book. I had to delete the book off my micro SD card, and the files, delete the app, then reinstall and sign in, and my book downloaded and was ready to read.

I found the app easy to use, fonts are great, and while it’s not totally perfect yet, I have to admit that it’s appealing because it’s cheaper than a Kindle, it’s another reason for me to justify my phone and give it another use, and I have access to thousands of books.

CONS: When changing phones, you must reinstall. The book would definitely look nicer on a Storm with a full screen for those who have trouble seeing smaller print, but I had no issues with my Tour.

PROS: Access to thousands of books, easy to install, books download quickly, no need for a Kindle, but if you have one you can synchronize on all devices. The app downloads the book in it’s entirety. You have the links in Contents to take you to the actual chapter. Fonts are easily changed though the default is the easiest to read without reading line by line. Pictures are included. You can use your Amazon account and purchase new books quickly. Access to several free books as well. Purchase the newest books as well including the New York Best Sellers. And it’s free.

I love this app, you can read your books anywhere you are. No more going to the nearest store, bring the store to you. Don’t wait for shipping, get it now. And the app is free, what reason do you have to wait? I did try a different ebook reader, and compared to the Kindle, it drove me crazy because scrolling was horrible. The Kindle is easy to scroll through and pressing the spacebar goes to the next page. Bookmarking is easy. Try it for yourself. And do me a favor and please share what you think of it.
